Kurchatov Youth Scientific School was held on March 20-23 at Kurchatov Institute.

Ekaterina Andreevna Sokolova, Senior Lecturer at Polytechnic University, presented her report "Prospects for Using Generation IV Nuclear Reactors for Hydrogen Production" as part of the Section "Promising Energy Technologies".

- This type of production, Ekaterina said, is seen as a new, environmentally friendly, safety-producing and economically sustainable energy carrier. Currently, only low-temperature processes are of practical use in the production of hydrogen via nuclear energy. This is due to the inability of third-generation nuclear reactors to maintain high temperatures. However, the development of fourth-generation reactors will make it possible to produce hydrogen in the most efficient and cheapest ways at high temperatures.
