Information on admission to postgraduate programs

POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION – GENERAL INFORMATION

Since 2014, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) has been training academic and research staff through postgraduate programs.

Eligibility: Candidates with a higher education degree confirmed by a Master's or Specialist diploma are eligible for admission.

Study modes: Full-time and part-time study options are available.

State-funded (budget) places: available as per the state admission plan.

Fee-paying (contract) places: available beyond the state plan. Tuition may be paid by individuals or legal entities.

Benefits: Full-time state-funded postgraduate students are entitled to benefits under Russian legislation.

ENTRANCE EXAMS

Step 1 – Interview: Applicants must first have an interview with their prospective supervisor. The interview protocol, along with the full set of documents, is submitted to the Department for Coordination of Work with Postgraduate Students (4th academic building, 3rd floor, office 320).

Step 2 – Written exams: Applicants who pass the interview then take two entrance exams:

Specialized discipline (major subject)

Foreign language

Validity: Entrance exam results are valid for one calendar year.

Retakes: Retaking entrance exams is not permitted.

ENROLLMENT

Applicants who do not pass the competitive selection may be enrolled on a contractual (fee-paying) basis beyond the control numbers.

TUITION FEES

Tuition fees are approved annually by the University's Academic Council.

Transfer from fee-paying to state-funded (budget) education is possible twice a year, following interim assessment results and subject to availability of vacant budget places. This is done in accordance with University regulations.

DORMITORY ACCOMMODATION

Eligibility: Non-resident full-time postgraduate students may be provided with dormitory accommodation (without family members), subject to availability.

Priority: Priority is given to state-funded (budget) postgraduate students.
