IE welcomes freshmen!
Freshers' meeting of the Institute of Energy took place on the 29th of August, where future engineers got acquainted with the management of the Institute, learned about the academic process structure and extracurricular activities.

Politech's corridors are again filled with people at the end of summer: freshmen enter the university officially as students for the first time, receive their first ‘studacs’ and ‘credits’ and get acquainted with the new world around them. ‘You are the main character!’ - was the slogan of Politech's admission campaign, and now the newly enrolled energy engineers have an opportunity to feel it too, especially in the solemn White Hall.

Viktor Barskov, Director of the Institute of Energy, welcomed the students and congratulated them on their admission: ‘Welcome to the family of energy engineers!’. He noted that our university has many opportunities for students and staff that will help everyone find their path, their passion and ‘create themselves’. Alena Aleshina, Director of the Higher School of Power Engineering, emphasised that in addition to education, one can always be active in sports, science and many other areas.

Sergey Zverev, Director of the Higher School of Electric Power Systems, wished success and good luck to future energy specialists, as it is not the easiest profession, but one of the most important. Alexander Kalyutik, Director of the Higher School of Nuclear and Heat Power Engineering, and Viktor Belko, Director of the Higher School of High Voltage Power Engineering, reminded that everyone can become a part of the Institute of Energy and start developing their career within the university walls. In recent years, more and more graduates continue their career at the IE.

First year students and already on the stage of the White Hall next to the Director of IE? This honour was given to several first-year students whose successes could not be ignored: they got high scores for the Unified State Examination, passed entrance tests or became participants of Olympiads. In 6 years on the same stage, many of them will receive their diplomas, but for now - we wish them success!

Irina Filippova, Chair of PROF.IE, an organisation whose active support has always been part of the student community, also spoke to the students. The adapters definitely ‘’rocked‘’ the hall with applause, and this is another proof that everyone is involved in the special atmosphere at IE.

After administrative matters were settled and the Directors of Higher Schools spoke about their majors, the adapters led the groups of freshers to begin special ‘’team-building‘’ activities. The classmates will spend a lot of time together in the future: at lectures, at exams, at other events and it is very important that they are able to hear and support each other as a real team.

Bon voyage, energy engineers!
