March 31, we attended the Youth Career Forum and talked to company representatives. They introduced what their companies do and gave us a couple of career tips for energy students.

 

Alexei Bondarenko, standardization manager at IOGTI:

The Institute of Oil and Gas Technology Initiatives is not an institute in the true sense of the word, but a platform for solving the challenges and tasks faced by the industry collaboratively. IOGTI aims to develop a national standardization system for all industry companies. Since the oil and gas industry is part of the energy sector, we have an enormous demand for energy specialists. We have a committee on energy with its own working groups, who are already developing documents in this particular field and of course IOGTIneeds technical specialists. Who is actually competent to develop normative documents? Of course, specialists in technical fields, energy specialists.

Graduating with a master's degree, I myself came to IOGTI, started as a trainee and a year later I am already a chief specialist. We are now actively recruiting students for many tasks. The complexity of them depends on whether they have industrial experience, which is always a plus. If students have been actively involved in science projects, laboratory testing and research, it will be easier for them to start working with regulations and give their recommendations. That is why our organization is named the Institute of Initiatives. Initiative is the groundwork for future heads of departments.

The Youth Career Forum is a good platform for contact. Rosatom, for example, has about 8-10 enterprises exhibiting at once in one place. This is very convenient for students, no one has to travel far, there is direct live communication, which is always an advantage. It is useful for a company to attend such forums: at the very least, it raises the company's visibility and, of course, people come up and ask questions and demonstrate if they are interested in finding a job themselves.

To start a career at Rosatom, I would consider an internship. You need an internship in different places, different organizations, to look at the company's activities from several points of view. At Rosatom, you can also try your hand at international activities - we are involved in the construction of the ITER fusion reactor. About 10 countries cooperate in the project. Also, plants are being built abroad, where energy specialists are always in demand.
