Scientific delegation from the Higher School of Power Engineering of IE SPbPU visited Iran to establish a joint institute and strengthen cooperation.

A delegation from the Higher School of Power Engineering («HSPE») of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) from May 11 to 15, 2025 paid an official visit to Iran.

The aim of the trip was to sign an agreement on the establishment of a joint institute between SPbPU, Iran University of Science and Technology and Pardis Technopark in Tehran. The new institute will open a dual degree program for students to study one year in Iran and one year in St. Petersburg. First of all, the program is planned to be launched in the areas of the Institute of Energy of SPbPU. The Iranian side expressed readiness to consider integrating other institutes of the university into the joint project.

Power Plants Engineering
Electrical  Engineering
Nuclear Power Engineering
As part of the visit, SPbPU representatives - Associate Professor Mehdi Basati Panah, engineers Anton Pulin and Mikhail Kanakin visited the construction site of the future institute on the territory of the Pardis Technopark. Currently construction and interior design works are being finalized. They also discussed the possibility of opening a Russian language center in Iran, intended, among other things, for training students planning to pursue double degree programs with SPbPU.

One of the significant events of the trip was the participation of the delegation in the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition, where held meetings with leading companies of the industry and learned about modern technologies in the field of mechanical engineering, energy and mining.
